WAVE GREEN - Sustainable Agritectural Solutions

The expanding urban population and constant depletion of natural resources from arable land to potable water are issues which continue to grow irreversibly and with unabated force. Food waste and the sizable carbon footprint of the agricultural industry are significant factors contributing to the existential threat of the ongoing climate crisis. We need to re-examine the way we produce food as the conventional methods of commercial agriculture, far from consumers, are no longer tenable. Growing closer and growing more productively with greater efficiency are increasingly important goals in supplementing the gaps in the agricultural industry.

As the business of agriculture moves closer to urban areas, the role of Architects and Engineers alongside Agriculturists in this new paradigm is to explore the possibilities in the urban and social integration of these new farms within the communities they impact. The partnership and collaboration of the depth of knowledge from experts in these fields is critical in ensuring the right environmental conditions are created to nurture and evolve plant life within a successful farming operation.

WAVE GREEN is an initiative to seek relevant design solutions by converging the fields of Architecture, Engineering and Agriculture to address global challenges in the realm of producing food in a responsible manner.
