AMIT MODY | CO-FOUNDER, CEO

Amit Mody is an architect with 23 years of experience across varying geographies and different building types. Amit is inspired by the art of place making; he recognizes the influence of built space on communities and displays great sensitivity to its translation. This combined with a tenacious, and a constantly evolving, research-based approach helps him deliver meaningful designs. Throughout his career Amit has found motivation and inspiration at every turn. One such experience that remains with him is his first visit to the step well. ‘The simplicity of the underground structure and its ability to combine earth, sky, and water, in one singular expression, left me with a true sense of the power of space and design.’

His designs are a constant exploration for such intangible aspects that create cherishable experiences. Before founding WAVE, Amit worked with strong design firms in India and Singapore on various institutional, mixed-used, residential and commercial projects. Combined with strong management skills and a vision for meaningful architecture, Amit, built up a 50 people strong team, across four geographic locations in Space Matrix’s first foray into architecture from Singapore. His is a varied portfolio with designs for a hotel’s furniture line, high-rise residential towers, institutions and a project-winning design for an airport. In an industry where specialization has become a norm, he constantly strives to focus on the process of design itself and embraces every design challenge with zest and application.
